    En als je nu inlogt in tekst modus, check dan je /var/log/Xorg.0.log op fouten. Dus (EE). En post deze.

    ik heb netjes de stappen doorgelopen maar als ik dan in et/X11/xorg.conf de driver op flgrx (ongeveer zoiets ik heb het thuis wel goed gespeld) dan loopt de xserver vast bij het opstarten

  • Tja, daarom is er ook om je log gevraagd ;)
    Daarin is meestal te vinden [i:2aec87251e]waarom[/i:2aec87251e] het fout gaat.
    Post dus gewoon eerst dat logje (alleen de errors).
  • Als de PC inderdaad vastloopt (freezed) heeft hij waarschijnlijk geen relevante log, omdat de laatste logregels nimmer meer naar disk geflushed worden. (ik had zon hardfreeze probleem bij een versie van de NVidia driver).

    Probeer eens een andere versie van de ATI driver is dan ook mijn advies. ;-)

    en nu kan ik wel fglrx in de xorg.conf zetten en dan boot
    hij wel gewoon, maar hij is met ppracer niet goed

    ik krijg al een haperend menu dus dat zit niet goed

  • Zit er naar uit dat je software MESA rendering gebruikt;

    /usr/lib/libGLcore.so

    dienen symbolic links te zijn door de GL libs die ATI geinstalleerd heeft neem ik aan. Het lijkt mij dat de ATI installer dat gedaan zou moeten hebben. Blijkbaar niet.
    In mijn geval staat er
    OpenGL version string: 1.5.6 NVIDIA 87.56

    en /usr/lib/libGL.so is een symbolic link naar /usr/lib/opengl/nvidia/lib/libGL.so - en een soortgelijke symlink voor /usr/lib/libGLcore.so.
    Maar dat is een Gentoo installatie en een NVidia kaart. Denk dat Jolo je wel verder kan helpen.
