Slackware 8.1: een aantal vraagjes

    ik heb mijn tweede linux systeem opgezet.
    Inmiddels wekt x naar behoren dankzij dit forum, maar nu kom ik er toch weer niet uit.

    1) op de laptop zit een geluidskaart deze wil ik graag gebruiken, bij mijn andere systeem was dit een kwestie van een module bij de kernel laden, maar dat schijnt nu niet te werken. Ik heb al in de howto's gekeken, maar daar kom ik niet uit. wat moet ik doen om het geluid aan de praat te krijgen. Het is een soud blaster pro compatible van yamaha

    2) Ik heb een usb diskette station, hoe krijg ik deze aan de praat? Ik heb al geprobeerd hem er aan te hangen en daarna mount /floppy, maar dat werkt ook niet. Op /dev/fd0 kan ik hem ook niet vinden

  • ik heb geen ervaring met usb floppydrives, dus zou niet weten hoe dat precies moet, maar heb je wel usb support in je kernel zitten?

    je moet dan iig de module ( als deze neit hard in de kenel zit ) "usbcore" laden, maar hoe je verder moet zou ik helaas niet weten, wie weet pakt hij hem dan wl in een keer :P

    Kijk eens op www.alsa-project.org
    Hier is voor een heel rijtje yamaha-kaarten en -geluids-chips ondersteuning van het geluid te vinden. (Bij mijn fancy-merk kaartje bleek dat de chip een yamaha-724 is, de ymfpci driver doet het prima). Je moet in de kernel alleen sound=y kiezen en de rest (van keuzes voor geluid) afzetten. (als dat niet zo is: kernel opnieuw compileren). Vervolgens de alsa driver, lib & utils downen en installeren. Tip: bij de alsa-driver: doe eerst ./configure –help om uit te vissen welke optie je moet geven voor jouw geluidskaart. Zonder opties krijg je driver-modules voor alle kaarten (scheelt behoorlijk).
    Om geluid op te starten onder Slackware bij het booten en netjes af te sluiten bij shutdown: er is een RedHat scriptje 'alsasound' in de driver-dir in de dir utils dat je kunt gebruiken, je copieert het naar (bv.) /etc/init.d . In /etc/rc.d/rc.local een start aanroep plaatsen (zelf maken) en in /etc/rc.d/rc.6 de stop-aanroep. Verder gewoon de manual volgen (is ingewikkeld genoeg….). Als je bv. de xmms player wilt gebruiken (en dat wil je :) ) ook ondersteuning voor OSS installeren.
    Op http://www.opensound.com/ vind je de commerciele OSS sound drivers. (Geen ervaring mee).

    Google: "usb floppy linux" (zonder de quotes) gaf in elk geval aan dat het usb diskette station in Linux als SCSI device wordt gezien. Moet lukken.
    Stel gerust nadere vragen als e.e.a. niet duidelijk is.

    Ik heb de drivers gedownload, maar welke versie moet ik hebben, ik heb nu 0.5.2 is dat de goede?? Op de website kon ik nergens iets vinden

    In die floppy drive moet ik me maar eens gaan verdiepen

    Na de reboot kan de USB floppy gemount worden.

    Bij mij met Slackware 8.1 op een Dual Pentium III 1000 Mhz 512 MB RAM met een USB Zip 250 MB werkt het in ieder geval. :wink:
  • bij het compileren van de driver krijgg ik de error dat hij ymfpci driveer niet kaan vvinden? wat mmoet ik nu doen

  • Post je complete errorlog eens na het compileren (file spuugt hij uit)
  • zover ik weet is het niet nodig om alsa te nemen als je geluidskaart gewoon wordt ondersteunt vanuit de standaar slackware install. Het enige dat je moet doen is de rechten(!) op /dev/dsp1 en /dev/mixer goed zetten!

    nu kun je wel chmod 777 /dev/mixer gaan doen, maar dat is niet de linux methode! /dev/mixer en dsp1 zijn van een bepaalde groep (sys even uit m'n hoofd), maak je zelf lid van die groep…laad de goede module en het hele zootje werkt.

    In dat geval zou je als root wel geluid moeten hebben. (Edit: klein beetje niet nuttige info verwijderd).
  • idd ja, maar ik kon dat niet uit z'n vorige threads halen, dus post ik het ff.
  • waar kaan ik ergens die errorlog vinden? Ik ben inmiddels overgestaapt oop versie 9, maar nu krijg ik compile error 1.

    het lampje op het station gaat wel branden, dus de device is goed, alleen het file system pakt ieniet, die moet toch gewoon vfat zijn?

    Ook dit werkt niet, ik krijg nu weer een error. Ik heb verschillende disks geprobeerd.

    En waarkan ik die error log voor het geluid vinden, dit heb ik ook nog steedsniet aan de praat

    Ik heb met Slackware 8.1 nog het volgende getest: een ISA Soundblaster AWE32, - AWE64 en ook nog een niet PnP geluidskaart met een Jazz16 chipset, Soundblaster compatible. Deze 3 ISA kaarten bleken gewoon te werken met wat ik zei op Di Okt 15, 2002 9:36 pm

    smeets_marc, je hebt inderdaad gelijk, als ik een gewone user lid maak van groep sys dan werkt het geluid inderdaad voor die user.
    Maar deze user heeft dan nog steeds géén permisions voor de cdrom speler /dev/cdrom. :roll:
